Golden Wedding
Mum and Dad

Dear Mum and Dad
From the day you took your vows
You promised to each other
To care enough and share enough
Of your love and trust for ever
So on this Anniversary
We’ll pass through one or two
And take a look through all the years
A little reminder for both of you

The FIRST it was with PAPER
That you lit inside the grate
The SECOND was with COTTON
For one stitch or maybe eight
The THIRD was LEATHER ,
The FOURTH it was in BOOKS
of which you’ve read a few
The FIFTH was WOOD,
The SIXTH was IRON
Used to smooth a crease or two
The SEVENTH one WOOL,
The EIGHT one BRONZE
The NINTH one COPPER, TENTH TIN
ELEVENTH is STEEL, Twelve is SILK
So soft against your skin
The THIRTEENTH is LACE so delicate
A reminder of what’s passed
The FOURTEENTH precious IVORY
So strong and made to last
The FIFTEENTH clear as CRYSTAL
Then TWENTY years for CHINA
TWENTY FIVE was SILVER
THIRTY a PEARL none finer
THIRTY FIVE is CORAL
From deep beneath the sea
FORTY is RUBY
As red as red can be
FORTY FIVE is SAPPHIRE
As blue as the ocean deep

And today you’ve reached a milestone
Fifty years as man and wife
And you’ve raised a happy family
A legacy of your life

So on this very special day
Fifty Golden years together
MUM and DAD we want to say…..
Thanks for everything …..
HAPPY GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSAY
And enjoy loads more together
